The second annual celebration week will take place February 28th to March 6th 2022) and will celebrate and highlight the vital role that professional grounds staff, volunteers, and the turf sector play in making sport possible.
#GroundsWeek 2022 is an awareness campaign launched by the Grounds Management Association, and follows on from the inaugural 2021 #Groundsweek, also sponsored by Nutrigrow. Last years campaign reached more than 135 million people and generated over 3000 mentions on social media.
After facing a couple of challenging years the industry is looking forward to a more positive year for Sport in 2022. #GroundsWeek aims to help inform and advise on the world of groundsmanship, to inspire the next generation of talent and volunteers and to raise awareness and celebrate this important sector.
#GroundsWeek aims to showcase the amazing work of grounds staff and volunteers – despite amateur sport taking a break in the last couple of years. It also comes after a period where parks and green spaces have been valuable to the public’s health – with increased use for ‘daily exercise’ and physical activity.
The GMA’s campaign will encourage individuals and organisations across the industry, whether they have a career in grounds management or volunteer for an hour a week, to get involved both on the pitch and on social media.
During #Groundsweek, the Ground Management Association will shine a light on the heart and soul of the industry – the volunteer grounds people who are the foundation of sport.
Will you join us in celebrating the turf care sector this week? To get involved simply share details on the rewarding aspect of your job and why others should consider it.
