This fertiliser is specifically formulated to prepare your lawn for the harsh winter months. Unlike summer feeds that focus on rapid top growth, this blend strengthens the grass roots, hardens the turf against frost and disease, and ensures a healthy, green return when spring arrives.

This autumn and winter blend has a much lower percentage of nitrogen and a higher percentage of potassium and iron. Low nitrogen prevents soft, weak leaf growth that easily dies in freezing temperatures, while potassium and iron focus on building internal strength and winter hardiness.

The best time to apply this fertiliser is from September through to November or early December, provided the ground is not frozen. Applying it during these months gives the lawn roots enough time to absorb the nutrients before the grass goes completely dormant for winter.

A 20kg bag covers an expansive area of up to 570 square metres when applied at the standard recommended rate. This coverage makes it highly cost-effective for medium to large residential gardens, sports turf, and commercial green spaces.

The standard application rate is 35 grams per square metre. For turf that is particularly weak or facing harsh weather conditions, the rate can be increased up to 50 grams per square metre to provide extra protection and strength.

To ensure a completely even distribution and avoid patchy results, it is best to use a mechanical push spreader or hand-held granular spreader. Walk at a steady, consistent pace across the lawn, making sure you do not overlap your passes significantly.

Yes, it is recommended to water the lawn thoroughly within 24 to 48 hours of application if there is no immediate rainfall. Watering helps dissolve the granules into the soil so the roots can access them and prevents any potential scorching of the grass blades.

You should keep children and pets off the treated area during application and keep them away until the fertiliser has been fully watered in and the lawn is completely dry. Once the granules have dissolved into the soil surface, the lawn is perfectly safe to use again.

Iron is included to give the grass a deep, dark green colour without causing the rapid growth spurts that nitrogen causes. Additionally, iron helps to discourage moss growth, which is a common problem in damp, shaded winter lawns.

Any remaining granules should be kept in the original bag, tightly sealed, and stored in a cool, dry place away from dampness, moisture, and frost. Keeping the bag dry prevents the product from clumping together, ensuring it remains free flowing for future use.
