Planting Buxus in Permanent Positions

• For best results, plant Buxus in autumn or spring. Prepare the ground by cultivating to a spade’s depth. For 15-20cm (6-8 inch) containers or bare-rooted stock, use 60g (2 oz) of Buxus Feed: sprinkle part at the base of the planting hole and lightly fork in, then mix the remainder with the fill-in soil and firm in the plant. For hedge planting, apply 60-120g per linear meter of trench. For larger containers (over 20 cm), apply 60g at the bottom of the hole and mix another 60g with the fill-in soil.

Top Dressing

• To support established Buxus hedges, apply Buxus Feed as a top dressing. Spread evenly on moist soil or, if using in containers, add 1 teaspoon per 15-20 cm of pot diameter and work into the soil surface where possible. In the first spring after planting, sprinkle 60g (2 oz) of feed under the shrub branches and repeat at the end of June or early July. For larger plants, apply 60g for plants up to 60cm, 120g for plants 90-120cm, and 180g for standard trees. Reapply mid-summer. Use Buxus Feed in dry conditions, lightly hoe into the soil, and water in well. Suitable for other trees, shrubs, and conifers but not for ericaceous plants.
