Conifer and Shrub Fertiliser is expertly formulated with essential plant foods and trace elements to promote strong establishment and vigorous growth in acid-loving plants like azaleas and rhododendrons. This pelleted fertiliser offers extended nitrogen release, supporting plants as they grow and is trusted by commercial nurseries in tree and shrub production.

How to use:

General Application

• Apply fertiliser evenly to the soil at the recommended rates below, ideally when the soil is moist, lightly hoe into the top layer of soil, and water thoroughly if conditions are dry.

Planting Conifers and Shrubs in Permanent Positions

• For 15-20cm containers or bare-root stock, sprinkle 60g of fertiliser at the bottom of the planting hole and lightly fork in. Mix the remaining fertiliser with the backfill soil and firm around the plant.
• For larger container stock (over 20cm/8 inches), apply 60g at the base of the planting hole, fork in lightly, and mix an additional 60g into the fill-in soil.

Standard Trees (Ornamental & Fruit)

• For planting, use 900g of fertiliser per tree. Apply 350g at the bottom of the hole, forking in well, and mix the remaining fertiliser with the fill-in soil before firming around the tree.

Azaleas and Rhododendrons

• These acid-loving plants require minimal nutrients. Do not apply fertiliser before planting; instead, mix ample peat into the backfill soil. Later top dressings should be very light – no more than 30g per shrub per year, applied evenly around the base.

Top Dressing for Established Plants

• In the spring after planting, apply 60g of fertiliser under the branches of the tree or shrub, forking it lightly into the soil. Ensure the soil is moist; if not, water after application. For continued growth, apply top dressings in early spring (March) at the following rates: 60g for plants up to 60cm (2 feet), 120g for plants 90-120cm (3-4 feet), and 180g for standard trees. Reapply in late June to early July. As plants grow, increase the amount of fertiliser proportionally to support their needs.

• In spring, it can be used as top dressing – simply sprinkle evenly under branches and lightly fork into the soil.
