Blended fertilisers
‘Blend’ fertilisers offer a quick response with good solvability, delivering the individual nutrients direct to the plant or soil as soon as they are applied.
Blended fertilisers are usually a more cost-effective option as the nutrients are mixed in the bag, as opposed to in the granule.
Typical blend fertilisers include our 3-12-12 Nutrigrow Autumn Fertiliser Blend – an economical fertiliser for lawns with a 4-5 day granule dispersal rate.
Although we do not offer tailored blends here at Agrigem, blended fertilisers are more common in agriculture where they can be made to the user’s specific needs to support the demands of individual crops.
Compound fertilisers
Most garden fertilisers are compound fertilisers – that is all the nutrients are mixed to a specific balance in every granule, so every granule is identical.
This can provide reassurance in distribution because you will know that the same level of nutrients is being delivered everywhere the fertiliser is applied.
Because compound fertilisers need to go through another process to blend inside the granule, they are, generally, slightly more expensive than blended fertilisers.
A popular compound fertiliser for lawns might be our Nutrigrow 9-7-7 Spring/Summer Pro Compound Fertiliser.
Whichever fertiliser type you choose, the granules need to be well mixed, spread evenly and accurately, and at the correct rate.
